What is  ndis.sys

The file ndis.sys is related to a process that is known as NDSI 5.1 wrapper driver. This is a file that is installed with Windows OS. The file basically enables the system to install drivers that were specifically designed to be compatible with Windows to a network computer that does not run on Windows OS. With the help of the driver wrapper, the driver gets installed and is recognized by the system so it can enable the device that the driver installed. In other words, the process is utilized on network computers that are not running on Windows OS. The process is also known as Network Driver Interface Specification network wrapper driver. This is a Windows API that is used for NICs, otherwise known as Network Interface Cards. The file has been found to cause the Blue Screen of Death. This is generally the problem that most users have reported. Common file path is C:\Windows\System 32\Drivers\ndis.sys. File sizes are from 182,656 bytes to 182,912 bytes.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. ndis.sys. is used by Microsoft Windows, If you shut down ndis.sys, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
