What is  crcdisk.sys

The system file crcdisk.sys is part of your Windows OS. Its process name is Disk Block Verification Filter Driver. The file is generally used in Safe Mode to check the status of your computer’s hard disk. This is generally utilized when system issues occur. However, the file has been known to cause a few issues as well; specifically when booting in Safe Mode, or during the startup process. Firstly, the PC is unable to boot in Safe Mode when a crcdisk.sys error occurs. Secondly, the system fails to complete its startup loading when it gets to the crcdisk.sys. The PC starts to hang at this point, and is no longer able to complete system boot-up. The most common factor that users mentioned with regards to problems with the file is that certain Windows updates caused the system to hang once it gets to the part where it scans the file crcdisk.sys upon Normal PC boot. Reinstalling the OS or doing a repair with the OS software is the most common recommendation given by users to solve the issue.
