Active Directory LDAP Browsing Utility, also Windows 2000 Support Tools Utility, is the term assigned for the process lpd.exe, which is an executable or EXE file, and a part of the software product branded as Microsoft Windows Operating System, which is developed by the company Microsoft Corporation. The lpd.exe file is a utility tool that is designed and used to perform Lightweight Directory Access Protocol or LDAP searches against the Active Directory to have specific information given search criteria, and to allow administrators to query data, which is returned in LDP queries that are subject for some security permissions. As a Windows operating system or OS component, lpd.exe basically runs in versions Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000, Windows NT, and Windows ME, which makes it also a legitimate process to download and use.
