The process Volume Shadow Copy Service is a system file that is loaded when you execute the file vssvc.exe. This process is installed through Windows OS software, and it is considered as an integral part in your computing activities because it backs up all your files in their real and current image even while some of these are open, or currently being used by the client. What this basically means is that, even if you have files open in the background, and the backup process is ongoing; your opened files will still be backed up in their actual image; and you can continue using the file while backup is ongoing. Other back up services require users to close down the files first before they can be backed up; or the files that are currently opened in the background will not be copied in their exact image. In other cases, the user will not be given access to the files that are currently being backed up by the service, until the task has been completed. Common file location is C:\Windows\System 32\vssvc.exe, and usual file size is 1021 KB.
