What is  cdfs.sys

The system file installed through cdfs.sys is related to your computer’s CD drive. The process is called CD-ROM file system driver and this is part of the Microsoft Windows OS software that installed your OS. This file enables your CD-ROM drive to function. If this file is disabled, uninstalled or deleted; your CD drive will not work. The file is saved in the Windows System Folder, and written as: C:\Windows\System 32\Drivers\cdfs.sys. The file has different sizes, based on the OS that you have and the version of the file installed. File sizes can be anywhere from 59, 648 bytes to 63,744 bytes, up to 70, 144 bytes. The file is legitimate provided that it was installed through a legitimate OS installer. The most common problem mentioned by users is finding the file disabled after updating their OS. They discover the file disabled, missing or uninstalled when they try to use their CD drive, to no avail. The error was mostly related to having a third-party CD/DVD burning application installed, which created a conflict with the system when the OS was updated.
