What is parport.sys

Parallel Port Driver is the system service that installs through the file parport.sys. This is generally installed through the Windows OS software. The file enables users to utilize the parallel port on their machines, usually for connecting a printer to the computer. The driver file allows the system to detect the printer, thus enabling the device to function. Users can locate the file in the following directory: C:\Windows\System 32\Drivers\parport.sys. While most printers nowadays connect to the PC via a USB port, there are still some printers that require a parallel port to connect to the computer. The port may also be utilized for other computer peripherals such as external hard drive, CD/DVD burner, network adapters and stand-alone scanners. This is where the driver file comes in handy.
