What is  tracert.exe

Basically termed as TCP/IP Traceroute Command, also known as Traceroute, the tracert.exe file is a module for Windows computer, since it is a component of Microsoft Windows Operating System, a product popularized and manufactured by Microsoft Corporation. Labeled as a computer network diagnostic tool for Windows PCs and laptops, TCP/IP Traceroute Command, or tracert.exe, is a program used to display the route or path, and measure transit delays of packets across IP or Internet Protocol network. Because of different Windows operating systems, this program has a variety of versions, but named “tracert” program, which is accessed from MS-DOS. In fact, this software takes the name, or the IP address, of the remote computer on the command line, and sends a series of test messages through ICMP network, when it is started to run, and processes all messages up to the last to reach their destination. Afterwards, it displays the list of routers to represent the path from the used Windows computer to the destination of those messages sent.

How can I stop tracert.exe and should I?

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. tracert.exe. is used by Microsoft Windows, If you shut down tracert.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop tracert.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Microsoft Windows, from your system.
