Microsoft Management Console is an integrated feature in the later versions of Windows operating systems, launched when you execute the file mmc.exe. This is a system file that should not be disabled. Basically, you launch the file when you access any of the snap-ins in the Control Panel. In other words, when you utilize any of the administrative tools on your system, you are using the executable file. The MMC is where the snap-ins reside. They cannot reside anywhere else except in the console. Users can find the file in C:\Windows\System 32\mmc.exe. This is a Windows-protected file. The file comes in several different sizes, generally between 796 KB and 829 KB. File sizes and versions are usually determined by their image hashes. While the file is safe to have on the computer, there have been quite a few reports where the process was very slow in its performance. Although it does not hog CPU memory, it does consume a lot of time. Users however, have chosen to let the file run so as not to affect the entire system.
