What is  appmgmts.dll

The file appmgmts.dll is a component of Microsoft Windows’ Software Installation Service. In particular, the Windows component svchost.exe that enables users to install or uninstall programs requires .dll files in order to execute queried applications. The file appmgmts.dll accepts or rejects installation or removal of programs based on the restrictions provided by Microsoft’s Software Installation Group Policy. There is one .dll file that is statically linked to appmgmts.dll, and this is appmgr.dll, while the file appmgmts.dll is statically linked to about eight .dll files: adsldpc.dll, advapi32.dll, kernel32.dll, msvcrt.dll, ntdll.dll, oleaut32.dll, rpct4.dll, and userenv.dll. In other words, when appmgmts.dll loads, those 8 files that appmgmts.dll is statically linked to need to be loaded first before appmgmts.dll can load. On the other hand, for appmgr.dll to load, appmgmts.dll needs to load first. Its approximate file size is between 146 and 164 KB. It is important to keep the file if you want to be able to add or remove programs from your computer.

How can I stop appmgmts.dll and should I?

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. appmgmts.dll. is used by Microsoft Windows, If you shut down appmgmts.dll, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop appmgmts.dll, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Microsoft Windows, from your system.
