What is  ftdisk.sys

The name of the system process that is connected to the ftdisk.sys file is FT Disk Driver. The process is also sometimes known as Volume Manager Driver. This is installed as part of the software that installs Windows operating systems. The system file is better known as Fault Tolerant Disk Driver. This is utilized by the system to correct errors with system volume drives, i.e. NTFS. The file launches when the system boots to check the NTFS file system and correct errors before the file system driver actually loads. This prevents NTFS from loading bad sectors. During instances where an error is already unrecoverable, which means that the ftdisk.sys file can no longer correct the issue, the system may not complete the boot-up process. The computer goes into BSOD, or the system crashes when an ftdisk.sys error occurs. The system file is stored in the System folder of Windows, as such; C:\Windows\System 32\Drivers\ftdisk.sys.
