What is  dumprep.exe

Windows Error Reporting Dump Reporting Tool with a filename dumprep.exe is a process that is part of Windows Operating System XP and 2003 versions. This is run as a startup process, and may remain in CPU memory after it has performed its task. This is a common observation of users who have seen the file running in their Task Manager Processes tab, even after it has performed its memory dump reporting back to Microsoft. According to users, they encountered the file when an OS process has crashed. The file displayed a prompt asking the user if they want to report the crash to Microsoft. After this first incident, the file seems to have lodged itself into CPU memory, meaning it still runs long after the crash report. Also, based on other reports, enabling the file seemed to have caused more crashes. The file is generally installed in the following path: C:\Windows\System 32\dumprep.exe. Command line is %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0-k.
