Service Host, also written as SvcHost, with a file name of svchost.exe, is the main process file of Windows Operating Systems that executes a number of system services. The process was developed by Microsoft to address the needs of files hosted in Dynamic Link Libraries to find a host that will allow them to execute, because .dll files cannot launch applications on their own; they need an executable file to serve as their host. Simply put, a .dll file needs an .exe host to ride on so they can load the applications related to their specific modules. This is where svchost.exe comes into play. Do not be surprised therefore, if you find several svchost.exe files running in your Task Manager pane. System modules that were called through the applications that you launched could be using the executable file. You see several of this executable running because not all modules can be loaded in just one svchost.exe file. In the case of the "svchost..exe" file, it could be malware or some other virus, because the file was not written in the way Windows' licensed file svchost.exe is written. The valid file only has one dot (.) after svchost, written as scvhost.exe.
