What is  ntfrs.exe

File Replication Service is a system file that is launched when the ntfrs.exe file is executed. This is a Windows Server service that is included in the software that installs your Windows Operating System. The file is basically used for distribution of shared files as well as Group Policy Objects to other servers connected to the group. The file also automatically detects changes made to specific files, and then replicates these changes to other servers. Product and file version 5.2.3790.3959 has an average size of 773.5 KB. This version is applicable to Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition. This is a Windows-protected file that runs as a background process, with service name NtFrs. File image location on disk is C:\Windows\System 32\ntfrs.exe. Although the file has not been found to be a threat to system health, it has been found to cause memory leaks, consuming more than fifty percent of memory, especially on highly active domain controllers.
