What is  cmstp.exe

The executable process file cmstp.exe (version 7.2.3790.3959), is connected with Microsoft Connection Manager Profile Installer that is created by the Company, Microsoft Corporation. The process file is identified by Microsoft as Trojan Downloader: Win32/Agent ls or Trojan: Win32/Malat, and has been identified by TrendMicro as TROJ_Generic.DIT or TROJ_COSMO.A. The process file is found to be running in the Task Manager as the process cmstp.exe, which is not visible and is not considered to be a Windows core file. The process file simultaneously starts when Windows start with the Registry Key of C:\Windows\win.ini that is further found in C:\ Windows\ ServicePackFiles\ i386 folder and in the directory c:\ Windows\ System 32. The location of the file can differ in various Windows languages and versions with a memory file size in Windows 7 or XP of 81,920 bytes (80% of all occurrences), or 356,864 bytes.
