Hi Deanna,

Try the following steps and check the result.
Step 1: Delete temporary files using Disk Cleanup tool
a. See Delete files using Disk Cleanup:
The following procedure cleans up files associated with your user account. You can also use Disk Cleanup to clean up all the files on your computer.
  1. Open Disk Cleanup by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button. In the search box, type Disk Cleanup, and then, in the list of results, click Disk Cleanup.
  2. In the Drives list, click the hard disk drive that you want to clean up, and then click OK.
  3. In the Disk Cleanup dialog box, on the Disk Cleanup tab, select the check boxes for the file types that you want to delete, and then click OK.
  4. In the message that appears, click Delete files.
Step 2: Run Windows Update troubleshooter:
See the below link:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Open-the-Windows-Update-troubleshooter

Step 3: If the issue persists, check in clean boot i.e. by disabling all the non Microsoft programsa.
a. Open the article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
b. From the article, follow "Step 1: Perform a clean boot" Executing these steps will disable all the non Microsoft programs running on the computer.
c. Check if the issue persists.
d. If the issue does not persist in clean boot, it means that some non Microsoft program is causing the issue.
e. To find out the program that's causing the issue, try "Step 2: Enable half of the services" to "Step 6: Resolve the problem"
f. Once you find the culprit, check if there are any updates or patches for the program. If you find any, install them and check the difference or reinstall the latest program.
g. From the article, follow "Step 7: Reset the computer to start as usual".

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Lokesh.
