Hi Olivia,
If your laptop is restarting after Windows update, then it is possible that an update did not finish downloading/installing properly. You can try the below fixes to resolve the update and restart issue: Fix 1: Run Windows update troubleshooter
Fix 2: Perform clean boot and check. You may perform a clean boot to check if any third party application is causing the issue.
Then enable half of the services
Determine whether the problem returns. If problem still occurs, click to clear half of the check boxes that you originally selected in the Service list. If the problem does not occur, select only half of the remaining check boxes that are cleared in the Service list. If only one service is selected in the Service list, and you still experience the problem, the selected service causes the problem. Fix 3: Enable half of the Startup items. If no startup item causes this problem, a Microsoft service most likely causes the problem. To determine which Microsoft service may be causing the problem, do not select the Hide all Microsoft services check box. After you determine the startup item or the service that causes the problem, contact the program manufacturer to determine whether the problem can be resolved. Or, run the System Configuration utility, and then click to clear the check box for the problem item. After you have finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to boot to normal startup.
Fix 3: Run System Update Readiness Tool. Download the System Update Readiness tool from the link below: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=44e15787-66b0-4e9c-9c3b-1fc9ea40f69fj Install and run it. When the tool is being installed, it automatically runs. Although it typically takes less than 15 minutes to run, it might take much longer on some computers. Even if the progress bar seems to stop, the scan is still running, so don't click Cancel. When you see Installation complete, click Close. Reinstall the update or service pack you were trying to install previously. I hope this helps in fixing this update issue. Regards, Lokesh |
