Aside from being a media player, mplayer2.exe enables Windows Media Player to rip music from and copy music to compact discs, burn rewritable discs in audio CD format or as data discs, synchronize files with MP3 player and other mobile handsets, and purchase music from online music stores. The mplayer2.exe makes Windows Media Player more advanced than the older version of the Media Player application by including functionalities other than the usual video or audio playback.
