The file gasretyw0.dll is malware that is identified by Symantec as the Trojan.Vundo, which is also known as Virtumonde, Virtumondo, and sometimes referred to as MS Juan. The Vundo infection is caused by opening an email attachment that caries the Trojan, or through a variety of browser exploits and vulnerabilities in popular browser plug-ins such as Java. The Trojan Vundo causes popups and is capable of injecting advertisements for rogue antispyware programs in search results. It can cause performance degradation and denial of service with some websites such as Google and Facebook. This malware has many varieties that produce benign to severe security threats to the system. In addition to popup advertisements, some symptoms of Trojan.Vundo infection include changing the screensaver to the Blue Screen of Death, disabled firewalls and security systems that leaves the system more vulnerable to security threats. It causes periodic freezes that are due to the hard drive being constantly accessed by the winlogon process, and a change in the Desktop background that shows the image of an installation window saying that an adware is installed in the computer.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. gasretyw0.dll. is used by Trojan.Vundo, If you shut down gasretyw0.dll, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop gasretyw0.dll, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Trojan.Vundo, from your system.
