The fah502-console.exe file is the process called FAH5.00 that is used by the program Folding@Home Client developed by Stanford University. The location of this process file is in the C:\Program Files subfolder, C:\ subfolder, C:\Documents and Settings subfolder or C:\Windows folder. The size of this file is 253,952 bytes. This is not a visible process. Folding@Home Client is a program that employs distributed computing. It is used by Stanford University scientists to gather answers from home computers to help them solve problems that require many calculations related to their studies of diseases such as Huntington’s, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and cancers. The software will send a problem for you to solve. After solving one problem, it will send you another. You can receive feedback if you want or you can just let it run. Folding pertains to the assembly of proteins before they are able to perform their functions. Proteins are the powerhouses of the body that convert your food into energy, fight diseases and regulate mood. If they do not fold correctly called misfolding, it can cause serious conditions such as the diseases mentioned above. Understanding misfolding will help scientists develop cure for these diseases.
