What is  fahcore_81.exe

The fahcore_81.exe file is a process that is used by the application Folding@home authored by Vinday Paje. The location of this file is in the C:\Program Files subfolder. The size of the file is 2,396,160 bytes. This is not a visible program. You can access the program on the Windows Control Panel. Folding@home is a distributed computing program that is used in disease research by Stanford University. It can perform computational drug design, protein folding simulation and other forms of molecular dynamics. Volunteers install the program on their home or personal computers. The program will assign a problem to their computer for them to solve. After solving a problem, the program will send another problem. It can send a feedback if the user prefers or it can just continuously run using idle resources from the CPU so it will not affect the normal use of the computer. Scientists use the answers to help them solve problems involving many calculations that are related to their studies of diseases such as Huntington’s, Alzheimer’s, cancer, etc. and to find the cure for these diseases by understanding the phenomena of folding or protein assembly.
