What is xdict.exe
The xdict.exe process is an EXE program file that has been reported by some users as a malicious program belonging to the Backdoor.Alfdoor.A application, which is a family of backdoor rootkits and Trojans, while other user reports claim that the xdict.exe process is associated with the Backdoor.Trojan program, which is another family of Trojans. As a backdoor rootkit, a few users reported that the xdict.exe process is capable of exploiting unsecure TCP/IP network ports of unprotected Windows-based systems, in order for the authors of this malicious program to gain access to the resources of the infected system through the xdict.exe process, and these system resources may include private user details, Internet surfing information, stored confidential data and other system components. As a Trojan, a few users state that the xdict.exe process is capable of using these exploited TCP/IP network ports to download more malicious programs unto the system from these predesignated remote servers of its authors, and these malicious programs may include spyware applications and worms among other malware items.
How can I stop xdict.exe and should I?
Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. xdict.exe. is used by Backdoor.Alfdoor.A and Backdoor.Trojan, If you shut down xdict.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop xdict.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Backdoor.Alfdoor.A and Backdoor.Trojan, from your system.
