The process file sparrow.sys, known as Adaptec AIC-6x60 series SCSI miniport, belongs to software Sparrow by Adaptec. The company Adaptec produces interface products involving SCSI, USB, IEEE 1394, iSCSI and Fibre Channel. SCSI (small computer system interface) allows personal computers to communicate with peripheral hardware such as disc drives, CD_ROM drives, tape drives, printers and scanners. SCSI ports continue to be built into many personal computers and are supported by all major operating systems. A miniport driver such as the process sparrow.sys is usually supplied by the manufacturer as a companion to the supported device, which in turn is installed to the computer when the device is connected to the system. The software Sparrow supports the functionality of the peripheral device that is connected to the system, and deleting it will result to errors due to the inability of the operating system to connect with that device.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. sparrow.sys. is used by Sparrow, If you shut down sparrow.sys, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop sparrow.sys, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Sparrow, from your system.
