Programm Category: Worm malware

What is  recycler.exe

The file recycler.exe is identified as the malware W32.Lecna.H by most antivirus programs. Lecna is a worm that spreads itself to mapped drives and opens a back door on the compromised computer. The open back door can be used by a remote attacker to download, list, or execute files, transfer data by using HTTP commands to bypass firewalls or by connecting directly to remote attacker, and list or disable processes. The virus is called recycler because one of the warning signs of its presence is the message 'Recycler.exe has encountered a problem and needs to be closed'. It takes advantage of the Windows autorun feature to spread from one disk to another. The typical infection route is through a USB stick that when inserted into the computer causes the autorun feature to kick in and rewrite the autorun.inf file and copies the recycler.exe program into the device and keeps its folder hidden.
