Metadata Monitor is the service name of the file process called mtdacqu.exe, and a part of the application Creative MediaSource, particularly version 5, sometimes also known as Metadata Monitor, which is developed by Creative Technology. Once Creative MediaSource is installed onto the computer, all of the components of it are downloaded as well, and mtdacqu.exe is considered to be an essential part that needs to run in the background. This means that the particular file mtdacqu.exe must not be terminated or stopped, unless it starts to cause some problems or errors that affect the performance of the system of the Windows computer. In addition, mtdacqu.exe is an executable file that does not only provide function, but also execute other modules, especially the processes that call for it. That is why this module must not just be stopped at all, but remain stored and active on the computer, regardless of the operating system used.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. mtdacqu.exe. is used by Creative MediaSource or Metadata Monitor, If you shut down mtdacqu.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop mtdacqu.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Creative MediaSource or Metadata Monitor, from your system.
