The process mousedrv.exe is a component of the application 5 Key Mouse Driver that is supported by Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Me (Millenium edition). The 5 Key Mouse Driver is the PS/2 compatible and USB 5-button wheel mice such as the Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer. The Intellimouse is a brand of computer mice from Microsoft which introduced innovations like an optical mouse, a scroll wheel, and a dedicated forward and back buttons on the side of the mouse for easier web browsing. The functionality of the 5 Key Intellimouse is supported by the Microsoft IntelliPoint driver. The driver software enables users to customize the features of the Microsoft mouse according to his needs and preferences. The mouse buttons can be reassigned, including the wheel button, to perform commands like Copy, Undo, or run macro. The mouse setting can be modified to alter scrolling speed and acceleration, and pointer speed and precision. Even applications can be assigned to specific buttons for faster access.
