The m4lic.exe file is associated with MacDrive, which is a product created by Mediafour Corporation. MacDrive is a program that allows a user to share files using Apple’s Mac OS to Microsoft Windows, or vice versa. This is downloaded with its components, including m4lic.exe. Once installed, the software enables a user to have a seamless access to any Mac files on Mac disks from Windows PC. Because m4lic.exe is a part of the program, this file needs to remain stored on the computer system, particularly in C:\Program Files folder. If this file is not running in the background, the MacDrive software may not work properly. In case the m4lic.exe file is deleted, or even corrupted and intentionally stopped, MacDrive is disabled, which does not allow a user to share files between Mac OS and Windows computers. Unless the program is not needed, the m4lic.exe file must be kept used as a running process on the system.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. m4lic.exe. is used by MacDrive, If you shut down m4lic.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop m4lic.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is MacDrive, from your system.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as MacDrive, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
