The kav.exe file is an executable application resource that is used by the Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal software and the professional version of this program (Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal Pro). The kav.exe process is distributed alongside other EXE program files, some modular DLL (Dynamic Link Library) files, certain SYS driver utilities, particular background process items and various components that are used and referenced by the Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal software. The kav.exe process is specifically deployed as an executable component resource of the Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal GUI (Graphical User Interface) module, which is responsible for displaying the sections of this application's UI (User Interface) and implementing the other components that make up this program's Graphical User Interface, such as images, text, buttons and the corresponding functionalities of those visual and contextual items. The Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal software is classified as a Windows program with a set of features for monitoring and protecting the system against data loss and corruption, user privacy threats, hacker attacks, data security issues and system stability risks caused by viruses, worms, Trojans and other malicious applications. The kav.exe process is placed in the system upon the installation of the Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal software and is set to automatically initialize by default upon system startup. The kav.exe file is also configured by default to operate in the background of the Windows-based computer during system runtime, in order to implement its system monitoring functionalities.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. kav.exe. is used by Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal and Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal Pro and Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal GUI Module, If you shut down kav.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop kav.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal and Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal Pro and Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal GUI Module, from your system.
