The gpvsvr.exe, known as Giga Pocket Venus Server, belongs to software Giga Pocket by Sony Corporation. This software allows users to watch TV and record analog terrestrial and cable broadcasted TV programs on the select Sony VAIO desktops. After the initial set-up has been completed, the application has user-friendly controls that are simple and easy. The set-up requires the installation of a connection from the cable television source using a coaxial cable to the VHF/UHF port of the Giga Pocket-ready PC. Installation prompts will appear once the connection between the enabled PC and the cable TV has been established. Giga Pocket installs an icon on the computer desktop, and double clicking on it will open the Giga Pocket window. The application requires the user to enter a password to access TV broadcasts. This application also supports the recording of output from other sources such as DVD or BluRay players.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. gpvsvr.exe. is used by Giga Pocket, If you shut down gpvsvr.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop gpvsvr.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Giga Pocket, from your system.
