The halsv.exe file is the process called SGPHAL_SV Module that is used by the application Giga Pocket created by Sony Corporation. VAIO devices enabled with Giga Pocket include composite video input, hardware MPEG-2 encoder, S-video input, and TV tuner that supports terrestrial TV and analogue cable TV. It supports broadcast standards such as PAL I, PAL B/G and SECAM L/L’. It supports audio standards such as AM mono, FM mono, NICAM multichannel audio including dual, stereo and mono, Zweiton/A2 multichannel audio including dual, stereo and mono. Recording formats supported include Full D1 video frame size, SP capsules, HQ capsules and audio properties [16-bit stereo, 48 kHz, 256 kbps MPEG-2].
