Most reports by anti-virus programs identify the extensions.exe file as a malware. TrendMicro recognizes this malware as TROJ_GEN.F4AE1HA. The location of this file is not clearly defined. There is no visible window for this program. This file is hidden. This process loads when you boot Windows. The registry key for this process is HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run, HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. A malware or malicious software is a program that can interrupt computer operations, access private systems without permission from the user and gather personal information or sensitive data without consent. Malware is also referred to as computer contaminant. It can disguise itself as a a genuine application. It can be obtained from an official Website that offers promising application with the malware embedded in it with a tracking software for gathering marketing statistics. It includes adware, spyware, worms, viruses and Trojans. It can cause harm to the host system.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. extensions.exe. is used by TROJ_GEN.F4AE1HA, If you shut down extensions.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
