Pages like Facebook have high amount of scripting involved. You are not looking at a simple web page by no means. With all this programming you have a different load on your browser than normal. To make things worse the longer the browser is open the more memory you have in use. You need to restart your browser at least every few days, every 24 hours would be even better. The other issue you might want to check is updating your Flash software to make sure you have the latest version.
