Hi Edwin,

Is this a recent problem?

If it is, you should consider performing a System Restore through Windows. This will undo any recent changes that might have caused the problem.

Here are some additional suggestions:

1. If you are using a USB mouse, try connecting the mouse to the other USB ports on your Dell and see if it freezes.
2. If you have another mouse at home or if you can borrow one, connect that to your Dell computer and check to see if it works normally.
3. You can also restart your computer in the Windows Safe Mode and check to see if your mouse works normally. If it does, then it could be a third-party application or service that is causing problems.
4. Check the mouse and cable for physical damage. Remember, the mouse is quite inexpensive to replace.

Keep us posted.

Hi Edwin,

First thing you should do is:

Go to start->control panel->mouse

Uncheck the box "Turn on ClickLock".

The, also try the below method:

In the Control Panel, select Mouse and the Pointer Options tab. Uncheck “Enhance pointer precision” and the problem may go away.

You can also update the mouse driver:

  1. All your input devices must be working under Windows (i.e. the old version of the USB driver must not be running, the device should not be disabled etc.)
  2. You must be Administrator.
  3. Select "System" from the control panel.
  4. Select the "Hardware" tab.
  5. Click "Device Manager".
  6. Expand the "Mice and other pointing devices"-tree.
  7. Double-click on the desired input device.
  8. Select the "Driver" tab.
  9. Click "Update Driver".
  10. Click "Next"
  11. Select the proper subsection below.
I hope this helps.

Regards,
Lokesh

I updated all of the drivers after doing a backup using your tool. Now only two of 4 USB ports work. Nothing happens when I plug either my mouse or iPhone cable into them. Two still work, two do not. These ports worked prior to using your software. I have since done a RESTORE using your software and they still do not work. Could you please help me resolve this issue? I have a Dell Precision M6600 system if this helps.
