Hi Thomas,
If your Windows 10 account is locked out, you have 2 options to unlock out of Microsoft account on Windows 10. Option 1: Sign into PC with another account If your Microsoft account is locked, just let it be now if you are in a hurry to get into your PC and then switch to use another available local account or Microsoft account to sign in your Windows 10. Option 2: Unlock Microsoft account with Microsoft service When you attempt to sign in Windows 10 with an incorrect password, you will get a message that contains the link allowing you to reset password. Note down the link. On any one computer or phone device, open the link in the browser. Then follow its guide to recover your Microsoft account. Enter your Microsoft Account information, which can be either the primary email address or phone number, followed by the captcha challenge to prove that you're a not a robot. Pick how you want to receive the security code: email or text message. In either case, you'll need to provide part of the alternative email address or phone number associated with your account. Click Send code and enter the security code you have received. Enter your new password (must be 8-characters in length on more). You'll get a message that letting you know that your account has been recovered. Click Next to complete the task. Go back to your computer and try to sign in again. Note: To be able to sign in to your account your computer must be connected to the internet. If everything worked as expected, you'll once again be back in your account. I hope this helps. Hi Thomas,
The process of recovering your password in Windows 10 is much the same as it has been in Windows 8 and above, albeit with a few slight tweaks. Here’s how you can recover both your Microsoft Live 10 login, as well as the credentials for any other users registered with the local machine. Use the Password Reset Tool for Microsoft Live AccountsThe first (and most obvious) solution available from the outset is to use the standard password reset function available at Microsoft’s password reset website. There you’ll find three choices, and for this particular case, you’ll want to follow the “I Forgot My Password” selection if you’re attempting to recover any accounts that are tied to your online identity.Once you make it through these steps, you’ll be greeted with the generally familiar recovery process that most major companies will use when attempting to verify that you really are who you say you are. If you’ve registered an external email or a cellphone number with your account, you can receive a code which will pop your account open without any extra hassle. Create a New User to Save Account FilesIf none of this works, there’s another measure you can take which will (in a very roundabout way), allow you to regain access to your computer.RELATED ARTICLE How to Crack Your Forgotten Windows Password Here at How-To Geek, we’ve covered many different ways to reset your password for Windows—but what if you can't reset your password?
