Hi Irene,

If you are having trouble restarting your computer in the Windows Safe Mode, your only option is to boot from your Windows disc.

You will need to change the boot order of your computer through the BIOS setup screen and change it to your CD/DVD drive.

Once you boot from the Windows disc, you will have the option to repair your Windows installation and hopefully fix the problem.

If you do not have any optical drivers, you can also create a bootable image of Windows on a USB thumb (flash) drive and use that to boot your computer.

Good luck,

James

Hi Irene,

Safe Mode is a lightweight version of the Windows operating system that you can use to troubleshoot the computer when the operating system fails to boot. However, if Safe Mode doesn't work, you must use the System Recovery Options found on the Windows 8 DVD or the recovery partition on the hard drive

Step 1
Insert the Windows 8 DVD into the disc drive, then restart your computer. If the computer did not come with an operating system DVD, restart the PC, then press "F8" to load Windows Advanced Boot Options. Use the directional pad to select "Repair Your Computer," then press "Enter."

Step 2
Press any key, if prompted, to boot from the DVD. Select your language and regional options, then click "Next." Click "Repair Your Computer" from the "Install Windows" screen if you've boot the computer from DVD.

Step 3
Select a version of Windows to repair, then click "Next." Click "Startup Repair." Windows will scan the computer for any issues preventing the PC from booting to Safe Mode. Click "Finish" when the process is complete. If Windows is unable to boot after running Startup Repair, return to System Recovery Options.

Step 4

Click "System Restore." Click "Choose a Different Restore Point," then click "Next." Select a restore point from when the computer was last able to boot in to Windows. Click "Next."

Step 5

Click "Finish" to restore the computer to the selected date and time. If the computer is still unable to boot into Windows or Safe Mode, you may need to do a complete installation of the operating system.

Regards,
Lokesh

On all screenshots I see, it shows the Start Screen on the "Dashboard Tile". But for me, it shows Skype. I also don't understand the difference between the settings "Enabled", "Disabled" and "Dynamic". Only "Hidden" is obvious, and it removes the Skype tile. But the other options don't seem to make any difference...

The blue background (or transparent background) doesn't look good at all when I use other colors for the other tiles. Also, to clarify I only want to change the reviversoft tile's blue background; not the whole start menu's background color. Also if it could be removed completely that would be nice :) or at least change the whole picture so that it can line up well with the other tiles on the start menu.
