What is  shsxs.dll

The file shsxs.dll is a process that relates to the operation to bring back the old Start menu in Windows Vista and 7 that has been replaced with the new Start screen in Windows 8. The new Start screen shows live tiles of the installed programs in Windows 8 that looks like the home screen of the Windows Phone 7. Users who prefer the old Start menu rather than the new Start screen with live tiles can enable the change by renaming the file shsxs.dll. The process that involves the renaming of file shsxs.dll disables the new Start screen and brings back the old Start menu. This is done by first pressing the "Win+R" key combination to launch RUN dialog box, then type %windir% and press Enter. This operation opens the "Windows" folder, which contains the process file shsxs.dll. Rename this file, for example with filename shsxs.dll.bak. Restarting the system will bring back the old Start menu.
