What is  netbios.sys

The file netbios.sys is the NETBIOS interface driver for Microsoft Windows Operating System. This file type is a DLL file component that stores data about the device drivers, settings, and other Windows system information. Designed for the Windows Operating System, netbios.sys helps in executing DLL files by installing the library into the Windows system's memory. It is shared by many applications and Windows functions so it is necessary to keep this file intact. The NETBIOS (Network basis input/output system) is the program that allows applications on different computers to communicate within a local area network (LAN). NetBIOS communication modes can be either a session or a datagram mode. The session mode is used to establish a connection between two computers, wherin the "conversations" that ensue allow large messages to be handled, and provides error detection and recovery. In the datagram mode, there is no connection since each message is sent independently, and the messages must be smaller.
