The printray.exe process is an executable file included with various system driver resources, modular components and program files that are required by the firmware and driver software resources of certain Lexmark printing devices. The printray.exe process is bundled with these associated Lexmark printer firmware and driver software components, which means the printray.exe process is packaged with the installer distributions of these applications. This also means the printray.exe process is installed in the system upon the installation of these Lexmark printer firmware and driver software resources. The printray.exe process is specifically implemented as the executable dispatcher file of the Lexmark PrinTray module, which is an applet that is built into associated Lexmark printer firmware and driver software components. This means whenever the Lexmark PrinTray module is required by the associated Lexmark printer, the system and the corresponding Lexmark firmware and driver software resources activate the printray.exe file. Upon its execution, the printray.exe process calls on other program files and references required modular components and other system drivers, in order to load the Lexmark PrinTray module unto the system.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. printray.exe. is used by Lexmark PrinTray Module, If you shut down printray.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop printray.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Lexmark PrinTray Module, from your system.
