The hbthostie.dll file is a process used by the application Hotbar Outlook Tools created by hotbar.com. The process is an adware. This dynamic link library [DLL] file is a BHO that automatically runs when you launch the Internet browser. Personal firewalls often do not stop the activities of BHOs because the firewall identifies the BHO as the browser itself. This is one reason why BHOs are often used by spyware and adware. The hbthostie.dll file can monitor or alter the behavior of Internet Explorer. Hotbar Outlook Tools is part of Hotbar Web Tools package or Hotbar that is a browser and system enhancement suite that is provided by Websites including ShopperReports.com, Hotbar.com and Wowpapers.com. This suite is a collection of tools and add-ons that mainly features the Hotbar toolbar. This Internet Explorer browser toolbar includes the Outlook Tools that provides add-ons for Microsoft Outlook Express and Outlook E-mail applications.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. hbthostie.dll. is used by Hotbar Outlook Tools, If you shut down hbthostie.dll, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop hbthostie.dll, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Hotbar Outlook Tools, from your system.
