The developer of this application is based in Warsaw, Poland, and the service is financed by the display of advertisements. Gadu-Gadu uses its own proprietary protocol, and the users are identified with unique serial numbers. The Protocol's features include status messages, file sharing, VoIP, and it allow users to format and embed images in messages. It allows grouping contacts, sending of SMS, and integrates with the other services that are run by the same company.
