The file genport.sys, known as 3Dfx Interactive, Inc. Generic Port I/O, belongs to software Voodoo Graphics port mapper for Windows NT by 3Dfx Interactive. Voodoo Graphics is the 3D graphics and accelerator card that was developed by 3Dfx, and the process genport.sys is the Windows driver that provides the codes and functionalities for the Voodoo 3D graphics card that is installed in the computer. The Voodoo graphics card that was initially introduced by Orchid Technologies to the consumer market in 1997 was uniquely crafted, since it had a pair of mechanical relays that would clack when the Voodoo chipset was accessed. Later 3D revisions used solid-state switching devices like all the other Voodoo graphics board. The Voodoo graphics card is an add-in card that accelerated 3D rendering, relying on the PC's current video card for 2D support.
