The fwmanager.exe file is a SAMSUNG ODD Firmware manager and is a part of the FW LiveUpdate program or the FWManager software. The EXE file is an agent that can automatically update firmware for Samsung Optical Disk Drives. It checks for updates in the Internet. Since it is a component of the FW LiveUpdate program, fwmanager.exe is installed along with the program. It is a safe process which is beneficial to the user if he has a Samsung Optical Disk Drive. However, malware can disguise itself as an fwmanager.exe file. So, the user still has to scan his computer upon suspecting a virus infection. FWManager.exe is a legitimate file for Samsung utilities and drivers. However, there are versions of the utilities and drivers that are prone to security attacks. This vulnerability allows hackers to gain access to the computer and thus getting the financial and other confidential data of the user.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. fwmanager.exe. is used by FW LiveUpdate, If you shut down fwmanager.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop fwmanager.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is FW LiveUpdate, from your system.
