The csinsmnt.exe process is an executable component file of the Norton CleanSweep software, which is a Windows program classified as a system maintenance and optimization tool that was developed by Symantec with a set of features for monitoring installation logs of applications, uninstalling programs upon user request and for deleting all traces of applications that have been removed from the system. The Norton CleanSweep software was initially distributed by Symantec as a standalone system maintenance tool, and is as of this writing bundled with the Norton SystemWorks suite of applications. The csinsmnt.exe process is specifically deployed into the Windows-based computer by the Norton CleanSweep software as the executable program dispatcher file of the Norton CleanSweep Install Monitor application, which is a small program built into the Norton CleanSweep maintenance tool. This application assists the Norton CleanSweep software in implementing real time monitoring functionalities for currently installed programs, and for integrating recording and logging features for applications that are being installed by the user. The csinsmnt.exe file is placed in the system upon the installation of the Norton CleanSweep software.
