What is  cpl32ver.exe

The cpl32ver.exe process is an executable file that has been reported by many users as a malicious program classified by their system security tools as a variant of the TROJ_CUTWAIL.SMT application, which is a family of Trojans known to infect unprotected Windows-based systems with outdated OS security certificates, unencrypted TCP/IP network ports and an unsecured Windows System Registry. Other users claim that their own anti-malware tools flag the cpl32ver.exe process as a malicious program associated with a component of the TROJ_AGENT.AYHZ application, which is another family of Trojans. Both user groups state that the cpl32ver.exe malware is capable of implementing its autorun functionalities during system startup because of certain keys and entries this malware is said to create and inject into the Windows System Registry upon its initial placement and activation in the system, especially in unprotected Windows-based computers with outdated or missing OS security certificates and an unsecured Windows System Registry. Upon its automatic initialization during system startup, these users also claim that these registry keys and entries instruct the system to allow the cpl32ver.exe malware to operate as a hidden background process during system runtime. The cpl32ver.exe malware has also been reported by these users to be capable of exploiting and using unencrypted TCP/IP network ports of the unprotected system to contact predesignated remote servers, which are managed by the authors of the cpl32ver.exe malware, in order for this malicious application to download more malware items unto the already infected Windows-based computer. The cpl32ver.exe file has also been reported by other users as a malicious program classified by their anti-malware programs as a component of the Trojan.Win32.Inject.usn and Trojan.Win32.Agent.acxl applications, which are also families of Trojans and worms.
