The cledx.sys file is a dongle emulator program file that is deployed into the system for simulating the USB license keys of certain VSTi (Virtual Studio Technology instrument) plugins. Among these VSTi plugins include the Steinberg Hypersonic VSTi add-on software, which is comprised of a set of VSTi plugins that can convert a Windows-based workstation into a virtual audio development studio console, especially when partnered with some digital music development and audio editing tools. The cledx.sys file is placed in the system in order to unlock these VSTi plugins by emulating the USB license keys stored in the dongle software protection devices bundled with these VSTi plugin applications. This means users can download trial versions of supported VSTi plugins and integrate the cledx.sys file into their Windows-based systems, in order to lift the trial limitations of those VSTi plugins by simulating the generation and insertion of the USB dongle license keys of those VSTi plugins into its product unlock modules.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. cledx.sys. is used by VSTi Plugin USB Dongle License Key Emulator, If you shut down cledx.sys, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
