The program HiJackThis can be accessed on the Windows Control Panel. HiJackThis is an open source software that serves as an enumerating tool for Windows. It is created by Merijn Bellekom. Trend Micro later absorbed the product. The program targets browser-hijacking methods instead of relying on the database of a known spyware. It scans the system, then shows the locations of the browser-hijacking activities and the entries there. The main purpose of the program is to diagnose browser hijacking to avoid software damage due to uninformed use of removal facilities. It does not detect or remove spyware. It enumerates the locations of the browser hijacking activities to prevent malware from being installed in the system.
