Owned and developed by Yahoo! Incorporated, ytbb.exe is the process file for the Yahoo! Toolbar Assistant, a downloadable utility software that installs on Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox browsers within Internet access. It allows users access to different functions that includes Yahoo! Mail and Yahoo! Search. However, several features are added when downloaded via the Internet Explorer version. The Yahoo! Toolbar is among the installed features when downloading the Yahoo! Messenger and other Yahoo! products. It allows the user to check the contact statuses if they are online while able to change own status from any browser and accessing the Yahoo! Search as well as favorite Yahoo! sites anytime. The Yahoo! Toolbar’s built-in algorithms prevent pop-up ads and protects the system from known spyware, thus program download from the Internet Explorer is also recommended for the advantage of obtaining the additional features available on the version. Any browser, however, enables tabbed browsing.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. ytbb.exe. is used by Yahoo Toolbar, If you shut down ytbb.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
