The winvnc.exe file is the process that activates WinVNC or Windows Virtual Network Computing, an application program that provides the user remote desktop viewing and working. VNC is an enhanced desktop feature as it is not only active on the running machine, but on Web pages and other devices with VNC as well. The desktop mentioned in this program is the desktop itself in a user’s computer machine. Rather than creating a virtual separate desktop, the winvnc.exe process makes available the existing desktop of the PC. After the file winvnc.exe executes, a green, small version of the WinVNC icon placed on the Windows system task bar. Winvnc.exe features VNCHooks, a special library of the running applications on the screen, displaying the notification about the areas being changed that can be retrieved. The VNCHooks library can decipher which areas are considered for update through messages, and which areas will be sent to the visible Windows.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. winvnc.exe. is used by WinVNC, If you shut down winvnc.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop winvnc.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is WinVNC, from your system.
