What is  usb.exe

The usb.exe process is an executable file that has been reported by many users to be associated with the W32.SillyDC application, which is a malicious program claimed by some users to be capable of implementing Trojan and spyware-like functionalities into the system. The usb.exe process has also been reported by other users as a variant of the Worm.Win32.Hamweq program, which is a malware item classified as a worm by the same user reports. The usb.exe process, upon its placement and activation in Windows-based systems, is said to be capable of creating keys and entries it can inject into the Windows System Registry, in order for the system to allow the usb.exe process to automatically initialize during system startup. The usb.exe process, upon its successful system startup activation, is then reported to activaly operate in the background of the system, in order to search for vulnerable TCP/IP network ports that it can exploit and use to download more malware programs unto the infected system and to upload data collected from the infected system and its default Web browser to the Web servers of its authors.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. usb.exe. is used by W32.SillDC and Worm.Win32.Hamweq, If you shut down usb.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop usb.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is W32.SillDC and Worm.Win32.Hamweq, from your system.
