The software Mozilla Thunderbird contains the thunderbird.exe file. The EXE file launches the software when installed in the computer. Mozilla Thunderbird is a free email, news and chat client. It can manage multiple accounts of email, newsgroup and news feed. The EXE file enables the software to manage and find messages through the functionalities it has executed. These functionalities include quick search, saved search folders, advanced message filtering, message grouping and labels. Thunderbird.exe integrates Bayesian spam filter into the software to prevent junk to pass through. It also allows extensions to be added to the software to update its functionalities. For example, the extension Lightning adds a calendar feature to Thunderbird. Mozilla Thunderbird is capable of running on several platforms such as Microsoft Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, OS/2 and eComStation, OpenSolaris and FreeBSD. It also provides security features to enterprise and government companies like SSL/TLS connections, IMAP and SMTP servers.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. thunderbird.exe. is used by Mozilla Thunderbird, If you shut down thunderbird.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop thunderbird.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Mozilla Thunderbird, from your system.
