The file sswiachecker.exe, known as Scan Snap WIA Service Checker, belongs to software ScanSnap Tool by PFU Limited. The ScanSnap tool is a high speed, compact scanner that converts hardcopy documents to PDF. The scanner, which is available for Mac and PC users, digitizes both sides of a document in a single pass, in color or black and white, at a rate of about fifteen pages per minute. It automatically separates color documents from black and white ones, and eliminates blank pages, which allows users to scan one-sided and two-sided documents that are batched together. The scanned documents are saved in highly compressed files, which make it a reliable archiving tool. The scanner is shipped with a set of software that includes the driver software ScanSnap Manager V5.1, and the applications ScanSnap Organizer, CardMinder, ABBYY FineReader for ScanSnap, and Evernote for Win 4.4 for Windows PC. For Mac, the software pack includes the ScanSnap Manager V3.2, Cardiris 4.0 for ScanSnap, ABBYY FineReader for ScanSnap, and Evernote for Mac 2.2.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. sswiachecker.exe. is used by ScanSnap Tool, If you shut down sswiachecker.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop sswiachecker.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is ScanSnap Tool, from your system.
